SAGE

COPORATE HEADOFFICE

When British multinational enterprise software company Sage relocated to the top three floors of the Gateway West Building at Waterfall City in Midrand, the move presented an opportunity to design a workplace strategy that would move towards a future vision of the company. The brief was to design a workplace that would support a high-speed, high-performance culture, facilitate closer interactions between internal teams, and help deliver outstanding customer experience to Africa’s entrepreneurs and business leaders. Although the project predated the pandemic, it involved planning for hotdesking, remote and agile working concepts that later gained mainstream traction. Sage’s global place-planning guidelines specified an open-plan environment and desk-sharing philosophy, which was supplemented by a carefully considered range of support spaces from private phone booths to formal meeting rooms. The fit-out also included a dining canteen, coffee pause areas, agile spaces and a data centre. Sage’s distinctive blue and green brand colours define the work areas and brighter accent colours, including yellow, are used to lift the tone of the breakout and dining spaces. A custom-designed signage system makes for intuitive wayfinding iconography and design details that encourage employees to actively move around the building.
