72 GRAYSTON DRIVE
72 GRAYSTON
COMMERCIAL OFFICE REFURBISHMENT
Situated at a prime intersection in Sandton’s financial district, 72 Grayston is a comprehensive refurbishment that repositions an ageing office block as a contemporary Grade-A address. Paragon Architects South Africa re-envisioned the building with a refined design language that aligns with Sandton’s evolving urban character while maximising the value of the existing structure.
The most striking intervention is the new façade: a layered skin of high-performance glass and aluminium articulated in sharp, angular planes. Perforated screens and deep reveals provide solar control, lending the elevations a dynamic, faceted texture that shifts with the sun. By combining transparency and opacity, the envelope balances daylight, glare reduction and energy performance, all while projecting a confident new identity to Grayston Drive.
Inside, the transformation is equally decisive. A double-height lobby, finished in stone, timber, and metal accents, sets a premium tone, while upgraded vertical circulation and open, flexible floor plates meet the expectations of modern tenants. Enhanced services, efficient lighting and high-spec finishes improve occupant comfort and operational performance without altering the building’s structural core.
72 Grayston demonstrates how thoughtful architectural renewal can extend the life of commercial assets, delivering a sophisticated urban presence and an enhanced workplace experience through targeted, context-responsive interventions.
